Admission to New Los Angeles Charter School (New LA) is open to any resident of the state of California. New LA does not charge students tuition and does not discriminate against any student on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, gender or disability. If the number of students applying for admission exceeds openings available, enrollment will be determined by a public random drawing. Applicants must be entering 6th Grade in September 2008.

April 7, 2008 - Application Deadline
Applications must be postmarked no later than April 7, 2008 in order to be included in the lottery. Late applications are put at the bottom of the wait list. Families are encouraged to contact the New LA office to confirm receipt of their application before the deadline.
April 11, 2008 - Admission Lottery
If the number of students applying for admission exceeds openings available, enrollment will be determined by a public random drawing. Names of all students interested in enrolling in New LA will be placed in a container from which a designated person will pull the assigned lottery order number based on the order in which they were pulled. Preference will be extended to children of board members, founders, teachers, and staff. The lottery will take place at 10:00 am at the Tom Bradley Youth and Family Center, located at 5213 W. Pico Blvd. It is open to the public.
April 18, 2008 - Admissions Letters Mailed
Admission letters will be mailed to families selected in the lottery. Wait list letters will also be distributed at this time.
May 2, 2008 - Enrollment Deadline
If the enrollment forms are not returned by the deadline, admission for that student is forfeited and an admission notice is mailed to the next student on the waiting list. Attendance at an enrollment orientation at a later date will be required.
May - September, 2008 - Students Admitted from the Wait List
Students on the waitlist are notified by mail and phone if a space becomes available.
